Academic Symbols
There are three versions of academic symbols: primary, text only wordmark, and the block E.
You should always try to use the primary logo with or without one of the tagline options (shown below). But you may use the logotype, or block E versions if it suits your application better.
For example, if you're designing a banner, our primary logo with the tagline is a great choice. If you're making a coffee mug where the print area is smaller, then the block E makes better sense (and will look better). If you happen to be embroidering shirts, the primary logo or wordmark without the tagline, or the block E would work best for visibility.
To avoid developing competing logos, avoid creating individual unit (departments, clubs, or groups) logos to be used with school communications. Rather, the names of units should be presented typographically as a part of the logo. These are available upon request.

Which file format should I use?
WEB - These can be used for print or web; the files can only be used at same size or smaller. These files are created only at web resolution (72 dpi) and should not be used for high quality prints. These will degrade if enlarged.
OFFICE - These are transparent background versions to be used in Microsoft Office applications. You can place these over different color background areas while maintaining the integrity of the logo. These will degrade if enlarged.
VECTOR - Are high-resolution (300 dpi) files best suited for high-output print production (clothing, athletic equipment, signs, banners, promotional items, etc.). Direct your vendor to these if you're having anything custom made with these marks. These files are scalable both larger and smaller.
Please do not attempt to alter or customize the artwork in these files. For additional sizes, formats or custom versions of the logo please contact Andy Shaffer at jason.olsen@slcschools.org.

Breathing Room
When placing the logo, give it enough room so it doesn’t look cramped or crowded. Below you will see easy ways to make sure the logo has enough room. These measurements don’t have to be exact, of course; but they’re a good rule of thumb.
